UNITED STATES OF AMERICA —Farmer-owned biofuel producer Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy, LLC (SIRE) has completed the acquisition of GreenAmerica Biofuels Ord LLC from Pilot Travel Centers LLC. The transaction, finalized on October 9, 2026, transfers ownership of an ethanol manufacturing facility located in Ord, Nebraska, with an annual capacity of approximately 70 million gallons. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed by the parties involved.
Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy, LLC is an American agricultural enterprise headquartered in Iowa that specializes in producing fuel-grade ethanol, distillers grains, and corn oil. Pilot Travel Centers LLC, a major operator of travel centers and fuel supply networks across North America, previously held ownership of the Nebraska bio-refinery through its GreenAmerica Biofuels subsidiary.
The acquisition increases SIRE's total ethanol production capacity to approximately 230 million gallons per year across its combined operations in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Ord, Nebraska. Integrating the central Nebraska facility broadens SIRE's grain origination footprint within a major corn-producing corridor, while retaining the local operational workforce and existing grain procurement channels for area agricultural producers.
This asset acquisition reflects broader consolidation trends within the Midwest biofuel sector as regional producers seek operational scale to optimize marketing and distribution channels for ethanol, co-product animal feed, and distillers corn oil. For agricultural cooperatives, grain suppliers, and energy logistics firms, expanding multi-plant operational capabilities enhances feedstock sourcing flexibility and market resilience across North American bio-energy supply chains.
