Subsea7 expands Black Sea footprint with large EPCI contract for Türkiye's Goktepe gas field

Subsea7 has secured a significant contract extension from TP-OTC to link the Goktepe field to the Sakarya gas development's third phase. The agreement involves Deepwater subsea infrastructure installation in the Black Sea, targeting increased domestic gas production for Türkiye with offshore operations scheduled to commence between 2027 and 2028.

Subsea7, an international offshore energy services provider specializing in seabed-to-surface project delivery, has been awarded a significant contract variation by the Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Center AS (TP-OTC). This award extends a 2025 agreement for the Sakarya field development’s third phase and targets the integration of the recently discovered Goktepe field into existing infrastructure. TP-OTC operates as the offshore technology and execution division of Türkiye’s national oil and gas company.

According to official disclosures, the project involves the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of approximately 20 kilometers of flexibles and 120 kilometers of umbilical's. The work also includes a rigid production riser and subsea hardware, all situated at depths of 2,200 meters. Project management will be centralized in Istanbul, with offshore execution planned for 2027 and 2028.

This development is a pivotal step in Türkiye’s efforts to achieve energy independence. By connecting new discoveries to the Sakarya production hub, the country aims to bolster domestic gas supplies and reduce import costs. For the subsea industry, this expansion highlights the increasing technical complexity of Black Sea operations, specifically the requirements for Deepwater infrastructure in challenging environments. For investors, the contract provides extended revenue visibility and reinforces the strategic partnership between international service providers and Turkish state-controlled energy firms. The successful execution of this Deepwater project will likely serve as a benchmark for future regional offshore developments, signaling a sustained demand for specialized subsea engineering and EPCI services in the Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea markets.
