CHILE; CANADA —Sumitomo Corporation has expanded its copper asset footprint by securing an indirect stake in the Dos Amigos copper-gold project located in Chile's Atacama Region. The transaction was executed through a joint special purpose vehicle owned equally by Sumitomo and G Mining Group. The vehicle committed approximately CAD 48 million toward Tintina Mines Limited's CAD 91 million private placement. Upon completion, the joint entity holds a 25% equity interest in Tintina, establishing an effective 12.5% economic stake for Sumitomo in the underlying asset while enabling Tintina to consolidate 100% project ownership.

With preliminary evaluations indicating mineral resources of 101 million metric tons measured and indicated, alongside 256 million metric tons inferred, the open-pit operation projects an approximate 25-year operational lifespan. Annual output targets stand at approximately 37,000 metric tons of copper and 57,000 ounces of gold. Lower elevation and proximity to existing regional transport and grid networks significantly reduce execution risk.
The investment reflects a broader strategic shift within the industrial goods and mining sectors toward collaborative project origination.
