Suzlon secures 201.6 MW wind EPC order from Waaree's IPP arm in Andhra Pradesh

Suzlon Energy has won a 201.6 MW wind turbine EPC order from Waaree Forever Energies, Waaree Group's power-producing arm, marking Waaree's first wind project and Suzlon's second DevCo-led order in a week.

Suzlon Energy has been awarded a contract to build a 201.6 MW wind power project in Andhra Pradesh for Waaree Forever Energies Private Limited, the independent power producer arm of Waaree Group, according to a company statement. The order was placed under Suzlon's DevCo execution framework and represents Waaree's first entry into wind energy generation, alongside its established solar manufacturing business.

Under the agreement, Suzlon will install 64 units of its S144 wind turbine generators, each rated at 3.15 MW, and will handle the full engineering, procurement and construction scope, including land acquisition, turbine supply, balance-of-plant works, commissioning, and long-term operations and maintenance. With this order, Suzlon's cumulative order book in Andhra Pradesh now approaches 1 GW, and the deal marks the company's second DevCo-led EPC contract secured within a single week.

The transaction underscores a broader shift underway in India's renewable energy sector, where developers are increasingly favouring integrated, single-vendor execution models over fragmented project structures. The DevCo approach bundles land sourcing, financing coordination, construction and asset management under one contractor, which developers say reduces execution timelines and shifts a portion of project-completion risk away from the asset owner. As utility-scale wind and hybrid projects grow larger and more capital-intensive, this model is gaining traction among independent power producers seeking predictable delivery schedules and reduced coordination overhead.

For the wind equipment manufacturing and EPC segment, the order reinforces demand visibility for turbine suppliers capable of offering integrated services rather than equipment alone, potentially pressuring smaller or component-only vendors to adapt their offerings. For Waaree Group, the deal signals a strategic diversification beyond its core solar manufacturing and module business into wind-based power generation, aligning with its stated ambition to build a broader renewable energy portfolio spanning generation, storage and infrastructure. It also reflects a wider trend of solar-focused developers entering wind generation to diversify energy mix and improve capacity utilisation through complementary generation profiles.
