NORWAY —A CHF 80 million framework agreement spanning seven years has been awarded to Ascom to oversee the modernization of clinical communication systems for Helse Sør-Øst, Norway’s largest regional health authority. Under the terms of the agreement, the Swiss communication solutions provider will supply standardized nurse call systems, critical alarm management, and staff safety infrastructure across multiple healthcare facilities in the region. Initial implementation commenced during the second quarter of 2026, with major project contracts secured for ongoing developments at the new Aker Hospital and the new Rikshospitalet in Oslo.
Helse Sør-Øst is a state-owned regional health authority operating under the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services. Employing over 85,000 workers across 30 hospitals and 70 healthcare sites, the entity provides specialized medical care to roughly 57 percent of the Norwegian population.
The long-term deployment addresses a growing push within public healthcare systems toward centralized, standardized technology platforms. By integrating real-time alert systems and patient signaling with legacy hospital IT frameworks, the initiative aims to shorten clinical response times, mitigate workplace hazards for medical personnel, and streamline daily operational workflows.
