Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited has been declared the lowest bidder for an 875 MW solar project in Rajasthan and secured a private contract in Maharashtra. These wins have pushed the company’s total fiscal year 2026 order inflow above INR 100 billion, highlighting the rapid expansion of India's utility-scale renewable infrastructure.

According to official disclosures, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWREL) has emerged as the lowest bidder for an 875 MW solar photovoltaic project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Commissioned by Coal India, the turnkey package includes construction and maintenance components valued at approximately INR 34.9 billion. SWREL is a global specialist providing end-to-end engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services alongside operation and maintenance for the renewable energy sector. In a concurrent development, the firm secured a 50 MW solar installation in Maharashtra for a private independent power producer. These new contracts bring the company's total order inflow for the 2026 fiscal year to over INR 100.62 billion.

The Rajasthan project is a critical milestone, reflecting the strategic pivot of major state-owned mining enterprises toward large-scale renewable assets. For industry stakeholders, this indicates that public sector players are now primary drivers of utility-scale solar demand, moving beyond traditional energy roles to meet national sustainability mandates. The geographical concentration in Rajasthan and Maharashtra further solidifies these regions as the primary hubs for renewable investment due to favorable land availability and grid connectivity.

For investors, SWREL's significant order book expansion signals strong revenue visibility and a robust competitive position in the infrastructure segment. The scale of these installations demonstrates a maturing Indian solar market, where the execution of high-capacity, grid-connected projects is increasingly concentrated among specialized firms capable of managing complex turnkey requirements. This trend aligns with India's broader policy objective of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity, offering sustained growth prospects for the renewable services value chain.
