Sydney Metro has awarded an AUD 880 million contract to the Riverside Link Consortium, comprising Gamuda Berhad subsidiaries and MTR Corporation, for the design and construction of the Parramatta metro station and associated transit-oriented development rights.

AUSTRALIA; MALAYSIA Sydney Metro has awarded an AUD 880 million contract to the Riverside Link Consortium for the design and construction of the future Parramatta metro station and associated station infrastructure under the Sydney Metro West project in Australia. The consortium comprises Gamuda Engineering Pty Ltd and Gamuda (Australia) Pty Ltd-both wholly-owned sub-subsidiaries of Malaysia-based engineering group Gamuda Berhad-alongside MTR Corporation (Australia) Pty Limited. In addition to delivering the core station infrastructure, the contract includes associated development rights for four integrated station developments comprising commercial, retail, and residential spaces surrounding the precinct.

Under the delivery framework, the station design and construction works will be executed on an 80:20 participation basis between Gamuda Engineering and MTR Australia, valued at AUD 880 million inclusive of incentives. Works are scheduled to commence on 4 September 2026, with target completion set for 2032. Simultaneously, Gamuda Australia and MTR Australia will hold equal 50:50 participation in the development rights component, enabling the joint entity to deliver phased high-yield real estate projects above and adjacent to the station following the metro line's commercial opening.

Gamuda Berhad is a prominent Malaysian infrastructure and property development group with extensive engineering capabilities across Southeast Asia and Australia. MTR Corporation Australia is a specialized railway operator and consultant, owned by Hong Kong's MTR Corporation Limited, which is internationally recognized for operating urban mass-transit systems and executing complex transit-oriented property projects.

This contract mark reinforces Gamuda's operational foothold in Australia's competitive transport sector, following its successful execution of the Sydney Metro Western Tunnelling Package and the Sydney Metro West Stations Package West. By integrating heavy civil construction with high-value real estate development rights, the project provides a strategic model for capturing value across both infrastructure delivery and long-term property monetization.

The Parramatta Integrated Station Development aligns with broader urban planning initiatives aimed at transforming Parramatta into Sydney's second major central business district. Catalyzed by regional population growth and the opening of Western Sydney International Airport, the project enhances transit-oriented connectivity across rail, bus, and light rail networks, while offering substantial long-term strategic opportunities for institutional investors and infrastructure developers.
