JORDAN; EGYPT —Egyptian energy company TAQA Arabia S.A.E. signed a landmark agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to engineer, supply, and construct a natural gas transmission pipeline to serve Al-Rawdah Industrial City in the Ma'an Governorate. The contract forms a key component of a broader 70 million USD development initiative financed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development in partnership with Jordan's Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation. Under the agreement, TAQA Arabia will deploy its operational subsidiary, TAQA Gas, to execute the construction of the 14-kilometer natural gas pipeline. Headquartered in Cairo, TAQA Arabia S.A.E. is Egypt's leading integrated energy and utility distribution group serving over two million customers, while Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources oversees the strategic development and policy framework for the Kingdom's energy and mineral assets.
The execution of this transmission pipeline delivers essential energy infrastructure to manufacturers in the Ma'an Development Zone, transitioning localized industrial operations toward cleaner, lower-cost, and more reliable energy sources. By replacing cost-intensive fuels with steady natural gas distribution, the initiative directly lowers operational costs for local factories, strengthening their regional competitiveness, encouraging facility expansions, and helping Jordan attract new industrial investments.
This initiative directly supports the goals outlined in the second executive program of Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision, which prioritizes energy efficiency and structural infrastructure upgrades across key industrial centers. By scaling up natural gas connectivity across industrial hubs, Jordan is establishing a more resilient national energy matrix and enhancing sustainable manufacturing output nationwide.
For TAQA Arabia S.A.E., the contract signals its initial entry into the Jordanian market, following a board approval earlier in the month to establish a corporate branch in the Kingdom. The project advances the company's broader growth strategy across the Middle East and Africa, leveraging its expertise in natural gas transmission, power generation, and utility infrastructure to capture expanding market opportunities across high-demand regional economies.
