Tata Power installs first commercial rooftop solar project in Ladakh at Leh hotel

Tata Power Renewable Energy has installed a 50 kWp rooftop solar project at Hotel Barath in Leh, the first commercial system in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The project, executed with channel partner Silk Route Energy and supported by MSME-linked loan facilities, marks a milestone in the region's transition to carbon neutrality.

Tata Power Renewable Energy has successfully implemented the first commercial rooftop solar project in the Union Territory of Ladakh, a 50 kWp installation at Hotel Barath in Leh, according to an official announcement. The project was executed by Tata Power in collaboration with channel partner Silk Route Energy and inaugurated by Shri Rudra Goud P.T., IAS, Administrative Secretary, Power Development Department and New & Renewable Energy, UT Ladakh.

Tata Power Renewable Energy is a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company, one of India's leading renewable energy companies. The project is the culmination of sustained efforts over the past five years and highlights the growing viability of rooftop solar solutions supported by accessible financing avenues, including MSME-linked loan facilities, making the transition more practical and scalable for local businesses. TPREL has also collaborated closely with the All Ladakh Hotel and Guest House Association to drive awareness and adoption, with several additional rooftop solar installations already in the pipeline.
