Tata Power has secured a Letter of Award from the Solar Energy Corporation of India to supply 324 MW of electricity from its planned 1,000 MW Bhivpuri Pumped Hydro Storage Project located in Maharashtra's Raigad district. The capacity was awarded through an e-reverse auction under SECI's tariff-based competitive bidding mechanism for long-duration energy storage. The development will follow a Build, Own, Operate model and is supported by a 40-year Pumped Storage Purchase Agreement, with operational commissioning targeted by 2029. Connected to the South Kalamb Central Transmission Utility substation, the system will deliver eight hours of energy storage capacity to the Inter-State Transmission System.
