Thermax subsidiary TBWES has been awarded a Rs.16 billion contract to provide a boiler package for a new 800 MW ultra-supercritical power plant in Central India. The agreement encompasses the manufacturing, delivery, and commissioning of the system, marking a significant win for the company’s heavy engineering division within the domestic energy infrastructure market.

According to official disclosures, Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Energy Solutions Limited (TBWES) has finalized a contract valued at approximately Rs .16 billion with a major thermal power developer in Central India. The agreement involves the provision of a comprehensive boiler package for a 1x800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power facility. Under the terms of the deal, the Thermax subsidiary will manage the manufacturing, supply, and installation supervision, alongside commissioning and final performance testing.

Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Energy Solutions Limited is a specialized unit of the Indian engineering conglomerate Thermax, focused on delivering advanced steam generation and heat recovery solutions for the energy and industrial sectors. This development underscores a sustained commitment to ultra-supercritical technology within the Indian power sector. Such high-efficiency systems are critical for reducing coal consumption and mitigating the carbon footprint of baseload power generation.

For the domestic engineering and manufacturing industry, this order represents a robust demand for high-capacity power infrastructure even as the grid seeks to diversify its energy sources. From a strategic perspective, the contract significantly bolsters the subsidiary's order book and reinforces its competitive standing in the large-scale energy equipment market. For investors and industry stakeholders, the project highlights the ongoing relevance of thermal power expansion in supporting regional energy security. The execution of the contract will follow a milestone-based schedule to ensure alignment with the overarching project timeline.
