Technip Energies, collaborating with JGC and Samsung Heavy Industries, has secured a major offshore engineering contract from Mozambique Rovuma Venture. The agreement covers the construction and commissioning of the Coral Norte Floating Liquefied Natural Gas facility.

Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV) has awarded a comprehensive engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) contract to an industrial consortium comprising Technip Energies, JGC, and Samsung Heavy Industries. According to official corporate statements, the agreement finalizes the execution framework for the Coral Norte Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) project located offshore Mozambique. Technip Energies is a leading global engineering and technology firm specializing in low-carbon energy infrastructure, while the project developer, Mozambique Rovuma Venture, is a joint operating venture led by Eni alongside state and international partners.

The brand-new floating facility is architecturally designed to yield 3.6 million tons per annum of LNG, effectively duplicating the offshore Coral hub's collective capacity to 7 million tons per annum. Strategically modeled as a standardized replica of the pre-existing Coral Sul infrastructure in Area 4, the deepwater project utilizes a common feed gas matrix to streamline delivery timelines, lower engineering overheads, and optimize baseline performance. This offshore development heavily impacts the global cryogenic engineering, upstream gas exploration, marine logistics, and project financing sectors. Doubling the output of the Coral basin elevates Mozambique into the ranks of Africa's top three gas-exporting nations, significantly shifting regional energy dynamics. On an industry policy level, the project underscores Europe's ongoing strategic diversification toward African natural gas to insulate against Eurasian supply shocks.

For institutional investors and project managers, this capital deployment highlights the commercial efficiency of replication engineering models in deepwater projects, demonstrating how standardizing asset design limits subsea execution risks and curbs cost overruns across ultra-deepwater infrastructure.
