Torrent Green Energy has operationalized 322 MWp of decentralized solar capacity across Nashik, Maharashtra under the MSKVY 2.0 initiative, strengthening daytime power delivery to agricultural feeders through a 25-year state power purchase agreement.

INDIA Torrent Green Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Torrent Power Limited, has operationalized 322 MWp ground-mounted decentralized solar portfolio distributed across 50 sites in 14 talukas of Nashik, Maharashtra. Executed under the state's Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0 framework-aligned with Component-C of the central PM-KUSUM initiative-the generated electricity will be supplied to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement.

This decentralization model directly targets agricultural load centers to supply reliable, daytime electricity to regional farming communities. By co-locating generation facilities near rural distribution infrastructure, the project significantly reduces transmission and distribution losses, mitigates grid congestion, and optimizes localized network reliability without requiring massive high-voltage grid upgrades.

The successful integration of multiple distributed solar units highlights a operational shift toward feeder-level renewable energy deployment in India's power sector. By transitioning daytime agricultural demand away from conventional generation, state power distribution utilities can lower costly cross-subsidies, curb peak-load operational pressures, and advance state-level clean energy targets simultaneously.

For energy developers and infrastructure investors, the project demonstrates the commercial feasibility of scaling complex multi-site agricultural solar assets despite localized land acquisition, grid interconnection, and permitting constraints. Torrent Power Limited is an integrated utility enterprise managing an operational power generation portfolio of 6.66 GWp alongside extensive distribution networks that serve over 4.3 million customers across Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.
