INDIA —Indian precision components manufacturer Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing has bolstered its strategic position in defense technology by securing an additional 5.08 percent stake in Dheya Engineering Technologies. The transaction, executed as a secondary purchase valued at INR 29.98 million, raises Unimech's total ownership in the target entity to 35.07 percent.
Bengaluru-headquartered Unimech Aerospace supplies high-precision tooling, mechanical assemblies, and critical sub-components to global aerospace and energy OEMs. Target entity Dheya Engineering Technologies specializes in indigenous gas turbine engines for military applications, focusing on unmanned aerial vehicle propulsion systems with thrust capacities ranging from 20 kgf to 400 kgf. Dheya is also developing specialized hydrogen-fueled turbogenerator components and naval auxiliary equipment.
This equity expansion accelerates operational synergies between component manufacturing and proprietary propulsion development. By embedding deeper into Dheya’s technological pipeline—which includes active testing facilities and hydrogen combustion technology—Unimech secures higher-value positioning within domestic military supply chains. The deal also positions Unimech to capture growing defense procurement budgets in India, driven by government mandates for domestic manufacturing in specialized aerospace systems.
For defense sector investors and market participants, the transaction highlights a ongoing trend of tier-one precision manufacturers acquiring stakes in deep-tech startups to build end-to-end capabilities. Integration of advanced propulsion prototyping with established manufacturing capacity provides both companies enhanced scale for domestic defense contracts and international export opportunities.
