UNITED STATES OF AMERICA —The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Omaha District has allocated $49.8 million contract to Conti Federal Services, LLC to execute specialized infrastructure enhancements at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. Under the terms of the agreement, the federal contractor will oversee the construction of six pre-engineered metal environmental protection shelters spanning 20,000 square feet, three maintenance kiosks, airfield and ground support equipment paving, alongside partial facilities demolition and repair. Construction activities are scheduled to reach completion by November 2028.
This development serves as a critical operational step in fielding the U.S. Air Force’s next-generation B-21 Raider strategic bomber fleet. Designed with advanced, high-durability stealth materials, the aircraft requires specialized flightline coverage rather than fully climate-controlled hangars for routine parking.
