AeroVironment has been selected by the US Navy to provide Contractor-Owned, Contractor-Operated intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance services. The company will compete for delivery orders using its JUMP 20-X VTOL uncrewed aircraft system, which offers over 13 hours of flight time and 30 pounds of payload capacity.

AeroVironment has been selected by the United States Navy to provide Contractor-Owned, Contractor-Operated intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance services in support of naval operations, according to an official announcement. Under the Navy's initiative to expand and modernise ISR capabilities, AV will compete for delivery orders alongside other selected industry partners to deliver turnkey persistent ISR support with autonomous platforms and multi-sensor integration.

AeroVironment is a global provider of autonomous systems and intelligence services. The company's JUMP 20-X Group 3 vertical take-off and landing uncrewed aircraft system will equip the Navy with expanded ISR capabilities for land and maritime missions. The platform features fully autonomous operation, over 13 hours of flight time, a 115-mile range, and 30 pounds of payload capacity, with more than 70 payload configurations. The system eliminates bulky launch and recovery equipment, simplifying logistics and enabling rapid deployment.

This development matters for the defence ISR sector, where the Navy is modernising capabilities to address evolving threats across global theatres. The contractor-owned, contractor-operated model reduces the Navy's capital expenditure while providing access to mature, proven autonomous systems.

For the defence industry, the selection reinforces AV's position in naval ISR following previous work for US Naval Forces Southern Command, the US Marine Corps 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, and the Korean Navy. Stakeholders including system integrators, sensor providers, and logistics support contractors stand to benefit from delivery orders under the multi-year framework.
