LAO PDR; VIETNAM —A bilateral agreement signed in Vientiane marks a major expansion in cross-border real estate and high-tech agricultural investments between Vietnam and Laos. Under the framework agreement, Vietnam’s Viet Nga Group will act as the general contractor for two large-scale projects spearheaded by the Lao-based Supchaleun Group, representing a total combined capital investment of nearly 30 million USD.
The centerpiece urban development, valued at more than 21.2 million USD, involves constructing a 4,600-square-meter dual-tower commercial and residential complex in the Lao capital. Designed to integrate modern commercial hubs, shophouses, office spaces, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, the 15-storey Supchaleun Central Tower project is scheduled for completion over a 2.5-year construction timeline, with projected revenues expected to reach 25 million USD over its first five years of operation.
Parallel to the real estate venture, the initial phase of an 8 million USD smart farm project spanning 94 hectares will introduce high-tech farming and circular economy models to the region. The agricultural development incorporates automated aquaculture systems featuring 3,000 ponds, 40 hectares of fruit and coconut cultivation, solar-powered facilities, and advanced water filtration. Fishery by-products and organic waste will be converted into biofertilizer to lower operating costs, while the system aims to supply up to two tonnes of market-ready fish daily to Vientiane, targeting an average annual net profit close to 930,000 USD.
Supchaleun Group is a prominent Lao enterprise active in real estate development, commercial investments, and local infrastructure projects. Viet Nga Group is a Vietnamese engineering and construction management firm specializing in turnkey infrastructure delivery, modern agricultural facilities, and urban developments across Southeast Asia.
This initiative reflects an accelerating trend toward cross-border corporate partnerships within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), where regional contractors leverage technical expertise to fulfill infrastructure and food security needs in neighboring markets. By combining modern urban commercial spaces with sustainable farming technologies, the agreement supports Laos' broader national objectives of upgrading municipal infrastructure, boosting high-value agricultural exports, and reducing reliance on imported foodstuffs.
For institutional investors and construction firms, the cross-border deal highlights expanding project opportunities in emerging Southeast Asian economies. The adoption of integrated circular systems in agricultural projects also signals growing demand for renewable energy components, waste-to-fertilizer processing technologies, and smart irrigation equipment across regional supply chains.
