VINCI Airports advances new Lisbon airport hub project with major engineering submission

VINCI Airports subsidiary ANA has delivered the core Engineering, Cost and Construction Report for the planned Luís de Camões airport to Portuguese infrastructure authorities. Designed to handle 56 million annual passengers upon opening, the greenfield project marks a key milestone in expanding Portugal's strategic aviation and multimodal transport capacity.

Portuguese airport operator ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal has formally presented its preliminary design and engineering plans for the new Luís de Camões airport in Lisbon to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing. Official public disclosures indicate that the submission of the Engineering, Cost and Construction Report will be followed by the final Environmental Impact Assessment submission to the Portuguese Environment Agency before the end of July 2026. ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal, a wholly owned subsidiary of French concessions and construction group VINCI Airports, manages 10 airports across mainland Portugal, the Azores, and Madeira under a long-term national concession agreement.

The proposed greenfield facility is engineered to serve as Portugal's primary international aviation gateway, featuring an initial operational capacity of 56 million passengers per year. Designed with a 500,000-square-meter passenger terminal, two parallel runways, and 120 aircraft parking stands, the infrastructure aims to eliminate chronic capacity constraints at Lisbon's existing airport. Furthermore, the development is integrated into broader national transport plans, connecting directly to a planned third bridge across the Tagus River, high-speed rail services, and expanded highway networks. In parallel, ANA is executing facility modernization projects across its existing airport network, including terminal expansions in Lisbon, Porto, and regional hubs.
