Mobile operator Viva Armenia has reached an agreement to acquire fixed-line and digital service provider GNC-ALFA, which operates under the Ovio brand. The strategic buyout aims to merge mobile, fixed internet, and cloud infrastructure, driving market consolidation and enhancing national telecommunications resilience in Armenia.

Viva Armenia CJSC has signed an agreement to acquire GNC-ALFA CJSC, a fixed internet and digital service provider operating under the Ovio brand. Viva Armenia operates as a major telecommunications firm offering mobile and digital solutions across the country, while GNC-ALFA manages a substantial fixed-line network and a certified modern data center.

This corporate buyout enables the acquiring entity to establish a comprehensive digital convergence model. By absorbing fixed-line assets, fiber-optic networks, and radio relay infrastructure, the mobile operator can bundle television, mobile communications, cloud storage, and fixed broadband into a single enterprise ecosystem. Furthermore, securing an in-house data center provides the foundational processing capacity to support emerging technologies and advanced data-driven applications for both corporate and consumer markets.

At a macroeconomic level, this consolidation strengthens national connectivity and regional infrastructure resilience. The physical integration of these two network systems is projected to diversify international data traffic routes, ensuring greater bandwidth stability and improved operational continuity during emergency situations or periods of heightened network demand.

For industry stakeholders and corporate clients, the move signals a broader shift toward converged, multi-service telecommunication packages. The transition is designed to eliminate infrastructure bottlenecks, paving the way for expedited service rollouts and next-generation communications deployment. Operational integration will proceed without immediate consumer disruption, as the transaction structure ensures that current subscribers will retain their existing service agreements while the unified network management framework is progressively deployed.
