GREECE —Wärtsilä has entered into a five-year service agreement with Greece-based TMS Cardiff Gas covering two newly delivered liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGCs), Al Thurayya and Al Majhoulah. Each vessel has a capacity of 174,000 cubic metres and has recently entered service as part of the operator’s fleet expansion.
Under the agreement, Wärtsilä will provide Dynamic Maintenance Planning to support maintenance scheduling and extend maintenance intervals while reducing spare parts consumption. The service package also provides 24/7 remote operational assistance and contract management services for the two vessels.
Wärtsilä will additionally deploy its Expert Insight predictive maintenance solution, which analyses real-time operational data to identify potential equipment issues before they develop into failures. The vessels are fitted with two WinGD 5X72DF two-stroke main engines, four Wärtsilä 34DF auxiliary engines and Wärtsilä gas valve units.
The agreement was booked by Wärtsilä in the third quarter of 2026. For LNG shipping operators, the arrangement places greater emphasis on lifecycle maintenance and remote technical support as new vessels enter commercial operation, potentially helping manage downtime and maintenance requirements across critical propulsion and auxiliary systems.
The deal also extends Wärtsilä’s involvement in the maintenance of TMS Cardiff Gas vessels beyond the existing fleet relationship. TMS Cardiff Gas operates LNG carriers, while Wärtsilä provides marine equipment and lifecycle services, making the agreement relevant to vessel operators seeking to integrate predictive maintenance and remote technical support into long-term fleet management.
