Waaree Energies has added 1.5 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity at its Samakhiali plant in Gujarat, raising the site’s annual output to 3 GW. The expansion increases the company’s total global module capacity to approximately 22.3 GW.
Waaree Energies Limited has expanded its solar module manufacturing operations at Samakhiali in Kutch, Gujarat, adding 1.5 GW of new annual capacity. The enhancement follows the commissioning of two 750 MW high-efficiency production lines at the same facility, doubling the site’s scale and taking total installed capacity at Samakhiali to 3 GW per year.
The Gujarat facility now ranks among the company’s most advanced manufacturing hubs, incorporating automated production systems, integrated testing infrastructure and quality-control processes designed to support both domestic deployment and export markets.
With this addition, Waaree’s aggregate solar module manufacturing capacity has increased to approximately 22.3 GW globally, including around 19.7 GW in India and 2.6 GW in the United States. The company also maintains 5.4 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity in India, reinforcing vertical integration within its supply chain.
The scale-up comes amid rising demand for locally manufactured solar equipment under India’s energy transition roadmap and global diversification of supply chains. For project developers and EPC contractors, expanded domestic module capacity may improve procurement timelines and reduce import exposure, while supporting India’s broader renewable energy manufacturing ambitions.
