Wireless Logic expands Brazilian footprint through acquisition of Algar Telecom IoT unit

Brazil | August 12, 2026
Federal Reserve Building

Wireless Logic has signed an agreement to acquire the IoT connectivity business of Brazilian operator Algar Telecom. The assets will be integrated into Wireless Logic’s local subsidiary, Arqia, expanding its machine-to-machine connectivity footprint in Latin America while enabling Algar to refocus capital on core cloud and cybersecurity services.

Wireless Logic has reached a definitive agreement to purchase the internet of things connectivity division of Brazilian telecommunications provider Algar Telecom, according to corporate disclosures. Following regulatory approval and customary closing conditions, the acquired business will be integrated into Arqia, Wireless Logic's local operating brand in Brazil. Financial terms of the deal were not publicly disclosed. Until closing, both business entities will continue operating independently before commencing a phased operational integration. Wireless Logic is a global internet of things connectivity platform provider that manages connected devices across more than 165 countries. Algar Telecom is a Brazilian telecommunications and information technology enterprise serving business customers nationwide. Arqia operates as a specialized mobile virtual network operator in Brazil dedicated to machine-to-machine communications.

This transaction highlights an ongoing strategic realignment within Latin America's telecommunications sector, where established regional operators are divesting specialized connectivity units to focus capital on core enterprise technology services. Launched in 2019, Algar Telecom's IoT unit established a strong market presence across point-of-sale systems and automated machine-to-machine connections. Divesting the connectivity business allows Algar to accelerate capital allocation toward higher-margin corporate solutions, including cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and professional IT services. For Wireless Logic, absorbing the network expands Arqia's domestic footprint and strengthens its operational capabilities across key Brazilian sectors such as agribusiness, logistics, smart utilities, manufacturing, healthcare, and commercial payments.

Latin America represents a rapidly expanding market for industrial automation and digital infrastructure, supported by growing commercial demand for connected supply chains, smart grid monitoring, and remote fleet management. The acquisition aligns with broader global consolidation trends among connectivity platform providers striving to offer integrated international networks for enterprise clients. Combining global cellular roaming resources with localized regulatory expertise enables connectivity vendors to streamline device management for multinational operations. Furthermore, regulatory oversight in Brazil will ensure that market consolidation maintains robust service quality and competitive connectivity options for commercial customers.

From an enterprise and investment perspective, the transaction solidifies Wireless Logic's position as a leading connectivity platform in South America following its acquisition of Arqia in 2025. Institutional clients and enterprise device operators stand to benefit from an expanded solution portfolio supporting mission-critical applications across regional supply chains. For regional telecommunications firms, the transaction illustrates a clear trend toward portfolio optimization, where carriers partner with specialized platforms to offload niche asset management while concentrating resources on core telecom services.
