INDIA —Welspun Michigan Engineers Limited (WMEL), a material subsidiary of Welspun Enterprises Limited, has secured two significant sewer rehabilitation projects from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The contracts carry an aggregate value of ₹3.51 billion. Both municipal developments are backed by World Bank funding and are slated for completion within a strict 24-month timeline from the commencement date.
The awarded undertaking encompasses comprehensive sewer network restorations across both sides of the city. The Western Ahmedabad segment, valued at ₹2.29 billion, involves the rehabilitation of the main trunk line stretching from Gota Lake to the 285 million liters per day Tertiary Sewage Pumping Station, specifically covering the route from Iskcon Char Rasta. Concurrently, the Eastern Ahmedabad assignment, valued at ₹1.21 billion, targets vital corridors including Odhav 310 to Panjrapole Char Rasta, Nirant Cross Road to Mahadev Imperial, and the stretch from Metro Pillar No. 99 to Nirant Char Rasta.
This contract win is pivotal for the engineering subsidiary, representing one of the largest standalone sewer rehabilitation orders ever secured through its individual bidding capabilities. As urban centers across India face mounting stress on subterranean utilities due to rapid population growth and aging networks, municipal bodies are heavily prioritizing structural overhauls. Trenchless and advanced rehabilitation methodologies minimize surface disruption while extending asset lifespans, making specialized engineering expertise a critical differentiator for civic contractors.
