Woodside Energy has awarded Green Tug Towing a $300 million contract to design and build four tugs for the Louisiana LNG terminal, bringing total commitments to Louisiana suppliers past $1 billion.

Woodside Energy has awarded a services contract valued at over $300 million to Green Tug Towing, a joint venture of Harbor Docking & Towing and Saltchuk Marine, for the design and construction of four tugs to be built at C&C Marine and Repair in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, according to official disclosures. Delivery is scheduled for 2028, with construction beginning in Q2 2026.

The tugs will provide towing services for LNG tankers at the Louisiana LNG terminal over a 20-year term. This development matters because Woodside and its contractors have now committed more than $1 billion to Louisiana suppliers for the foundational development of the Louisiana LNG project, which targets first LNG in 2029.

The contract supports approximately 70 direct local jobs, 30 indirect roles, and 60 temporary construction positions. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry highlighted the state’s $17.5 billion overall investment from Woodside as validation of local workforce capabilities. Industries impacted include maritime towing, LNG terminal operations, shipbuilding, and port logistics.

Stakeholders include Gulf Coast maritime labor, C&C Marine and Repair, and global LNG buyers.

For investors, this contract demonstrates Woodside’s commitment to local supply chain development under long-term terminal service agreements. The 20-year towing term provides revenue visibility for Green Tug Towing, while the eight-vessel tug program at C&C Marine signals sustained Gulf Coast shipbuilding activity.

Woodside Energy is an Australian global energy company headquartered in Perth, operating LNG and oil production assets worldwide.

Green Tug Towing is a joint venture between Harbor Docking & Towing and Saltchuk Marine, focused on harbor assist and terminal towing services.
