European engineering consultancy XPartners has acquired Swedish PLM specialist Virtual Engineering. The deal enhances XPartners' technical advisory capabilities across Scandinavia, integrating specialized product lifecycle management expertise into its broader industrial, defense, and energy sector offerings.

European engineering and design consultancy XPartners has expanded its industrial advisory footprint through the acquisition of Swedish Product Lifecycle Management specialist Virtual Engineering. Based in Gothenburg with regional offices in Stockholm, Lund, and UmeƄ, Virtual Engineering generates SEK 50 million in revenue and employs roughly 30 specialists focused on digital product and process information management.

XPartners is a European engineering and design group operating a platform model with over 80 entrepreneur-led firms, employing approximately 2,500 specialists and generating pro forma annual net sales of SEK 5 billion. Virtual Engineering provides specialized technical consultancy services, delivering digital architecture, systems development, data migration, and artificial intelligence-backed optimization tools to major Swedish industrial, defense, and energy clients.

The transaction addresses growing corporate demand for end-to-end data traceability, system integration, and digital continuity within complex engineering workflows. Industrial companies face increasing regulatory pressures, cyber compliance mandates, and operational hurdles that require rigorous management of digital product data across full life cycles.

By integrating dedicated digital architecture capabilities alongside general infrastructure, environmental, and building consultancy services, XPartners strengthens its competitive positioning against traditional technical firms. The expansion enables the consolidated entity to capture larger cross-sector mandates, while providing Virtual Engineering direct scale to execute complex digital transformation contracts across Nordic and broader European markets.
