ZeroAvia has entered a collaboration with the Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute to design and test liquid hydrogen storage technology for aircraft. The multi-year project will use a specialized UK testing facility to assess safety and performance, supporting the development of hydrogen-powered aviation systems.

Hydrogen aviation developer has signed an agreement with to collaborate on the development and evaluation of liquid hydrogen storage systems intended for aircraft applications. Under the arrangement, ZeroAvia will provide technical guidance on system design while supporting testing activities across multiple development phases. According to official disclosures, the testing programme will be conducted over several years at ZeroAvia’s dedicated liquid hydrogen testing facility located at in the United Kingdom.

The facility has been designed for hydrogen aircraft component testing and complies with relevant safety frameworks governing explosive atmospheres and hazardous environments. The site includes specialized infrastructure that enables controlled evaluation of hydrogen storage technologies while mitigating potential leak risks. The collaboration reflects growing global efforts to accelerate the commercialization of hydrogen propulsion in aviation. Liquid hydrogen storage remains a key technical challenge for next-generation aircraft because of its cryogenic requirements and safety considerations. Advancing reliable storage solutions is therefore central to scaling hydrogen-powered flight. The initiative is likely to influence aerospace engineering, hydrogen infrastructure development, and clean energy technology sectors.

For aircraft manufacturers and aviation suppliers, progress in hydrogen storage could unlock new pathways for zero-emission propulsion systems. The partnership also highlights increasing cross-border cooperation between research institutions and private aerospace companies seeking to reduce aviation’s carbon footprint while maintaining operational efficiency.
